Roberto Benigni (ital. Roberto Benigni, was born October 27, 1952) – Italian comic actor, director, screenwriter and producer.
 
He began acting in Italian comedy series in the 1970s. and soon gained recognition as the heir to the traditions of the great Italian comedian Toto. Outside Italy eccentric person Benigni became famous after he starred in Jim Jarmusch in the art-house projects “Outlaw” (1986) and “Night on Earth” (1991).
Even more attention to his eccentricities attracted in 1997, when posed Benigni comedy “Life is Beautiful” won the Grand Prix at Cannes. The actor fell to his knees before the prize is awarded to Martin Scorsese and kissed his hand. The film was nominated for several awards “Oscar” and Benigni brought this prestigious award in the category for Best Actor.
After Oscar and Cannes triumph long exaggerated than Benigni will continue. In 2002, finally came out in theaters, “Pinocchio,” Benigni was conceived with the late Federico Fellini. Despite the huge budget by European standards, “Pinocchio” turned grandiose failure and was nominated for a “Razzie” as the worst film of the year.
