Anne Bancroft (real name – Anna Maria Louisa Italiano) was born in New York (USA). She graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Actors Studio in New York, as well as workshops for directing at the American Film Institute Women in Los Angeles. She has worked in television, film debuted in 1952 in the “Do not Bother to Knock.” Success on Broadway in 1958 – 60 years (especially in “The Miracle Worker” directed by Arthur Penn) provided Bancroft career in Hollywood. Star made her role in the film version of “The Miracle Worker” (1962), for which the actress was “Oscar”. Among her film credits such films as “The Graduate” (1967) Mike Nichols, “The Decisive Moment” (“The Turning Point”, 1977), “The Pumpkin Eater” (1964) J. Clayton. In 1980, Bancroft made her debut as director and screenwriter in the comedy “Fat Man”. Since 1964, the actress married to Mel Brooks.
