Shelly Font (real name Shirley Shift) was born on 18 August 1920 in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States into a Jewish family. Her father, Jonas Font was menswear designer, and his mother, Rosa, – singer. When the future actress was three years old, her family moved to New York. There Shelley engaged in acting studio «Hollywood Studio Club», where her roommate was Marilyn Monroe.
For the first time on the screens of Shelly appeared in 1943, in the film «What a Woman!
