“He challenged the empire and changed the world” – somewhere I’ve already seen the story about the guy who challenged the empire. Ridley Scott – the figure is certainly significant in the movie, the man who gave us films like “Hannibal,” sunny “A Good Year” spectacular “Alien” and, of course, the great “Gladiator”, the movie changed the idea of the genre. Despite the fact that I think Scott’s a really good director and master of epic films in recent years, it is only disappointing. In my memory, it has remained a gifted filmmaker who is trying to reach the largest audience segment, to work in different genres and, if not strange, he always did it. His characters are interesting, characterized by, for all its remoteness close each time and humanity. It was so Scott and tried to make his Moses, who entrusted the wonderful actor Christian Bale. And that’s the only thing that really attracts attention and makes you wonder.

Biblical legend of Moses is known to be, everyone who has ever picked up a Bible. It is just as popular as the legend of the other Old Testament hero Noah, but personally I somehow was not so interesting – purely a matter of taste. And with a light hand of Adam Cooper, Bill Kolladzha and several lesser-known writers, simple uncomplicated legend turned into a whole drama. In parallel with the story of Moses and the statement of the long-known biblical events Ridley diligently trying to humanize his character as Darren Aronofsky humanised his Noah. And in spite of the unusual scenario and feed for all the blunders, Noah a really complex and multifaceted character with their vices and passions, great won back one of the best actors in the movie. As for Bale, it is simply not enough for Moses literate script and played it as able – squeezed out of poor biblical hero everything that has managed and that had the imagination.

But throughout the film I was not feeling that every shot, every glance heroes wave of a hand or a panoramic view of the countryside, which is so fond of Scott, I saw somewhere and seen more than once. Many directors have their own distinctive style, its own unique manner of presentation, but it looks like a few banal tediousness and lack of imagination. With all due respect to the glorious past of Scott and his merits in the movie, I can not accept that he must have outlived its usefulness, and the director’s chair suddenly felt uncomfortable. Maybe this film would have saved the above Russell Crowe, who once pulled such pictures as “Robin Hood” and so on. N. But in this role, it is difficult to imagine the present. In Christine Bailey, with all his talent uniform without claim to genius, not what should be in such a hero and is famous for the film Scott – greatness. It is no article, broad shoulders and a proud gait, it does not look like a hero, descended from the pages of history books, it does not want to watch with bated breath. Here he runs with a sword, copying Maximus, in similar armor and shouting something, so he pulls the bowstring by copying this time Robin Hood, and shoots the arrow. Well-known items, but this time they have no depth. For all its postpaid and a good game, it is the majesty, in my opinion, Bailey was not enough.

In the end, it came out very mediocre film, which, alas, did not give us anything new, but rather annoyingly rude and reminded of the old. A movie that as a blanket woven from copied from himself pieces, not just at what is woven and sewn coarse thread, why looks like a mediocre parody. Do not try to recall their past achievements, creating unambiguous slogans, no need to do from one another actor, pulling at him the same armor and handing the sword, which he simply can not keep. You must be able to leave with dignity when we have said everything I wanted to say.
