Martin began his career as a writer for the comedy show ‘Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour’, and later became a frequent guest in ‘The Tonight Show’. Steve Martin was born August 14, 1945 in Waco, Texas (Waco, Texas), but grew up in California, in a Baptist family. His father was a salesman of real estate and amateur actor. One of the earliest childhood memories of Steve – father, serves drinks in the crowd on the stage. After school, he studied at the College of Santa Ana, studying drama and English poetry, and played in one or two theater troupes. Acquainted with aspiring actress Stormy Sherk (Stormie Sherk), with whom he became romantically involved, Martin entered the California State University in Long Beach, but already there is a studied philosophy. He even thought about becoming a teacher and leave the dream of becoming an actor. But in 1967 he returned to the theater, was transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, an hour’s drive to the north, and the distance put an end to the relationship of young people. At the same time, Steve began performing in nightclubs, and when he was 21, dropped out of college.
Fame came to him in the mid-70s, when Martin was transformed from a novice comedian in the hugely popular stand-up comedian. One of his appearance in the TV show increased the audience of viewers per million albums and recordings of comic numbers became platinum. By the end of the decade performances at major arenas Martin met tens of thousands of screaming fans, who did not know one of his little secrets – success as a stand-up comedian Steve considered accidental. His real goal was to film. Hollywood, too, had no choice but to fall under the pressure of an energetic comedian.
His first small role (already appeared in a number of TV series) Martin was in the comedy ‘Another Nice Mess’ in 1972. To date, he has over fifty roles in film and television. Moreover, a special love of the audience brought him the films in the creation of which Martin was directly involved: for example, ‘Roxanne’, a modern adaptation of the play “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Edmond Rostand (Edmond Rostand), or ‘Shopgirl’ lyrical melodrama, where the hero Martin plays the young contender.
In 2009, an article in ‘The Guardian’ Martin mentioned as one of the best actors who, nevertheless, never nominated for an Oscar. In 2013 the American Academy correct this omission.
In Martin’s life was more famous novels and two marriages. The first – with actress Victoria Tennant (Victoria Tennant) – lasted eight years and ended in divorce in 1994. In July 2007, after three years of relations, Steve married writer and journalist Anne Stringfield (Anne Stringfield). In December 2012, 67-year-old Martin became a father for the first time.
