Born in Westwood, New Jersey, USA. In 1983, he graduated from college and moved to New York to study acting. About ten years James worked as a bartender and manager of the nightclub, to somehow maintain his existence. The first major breakthrough came in 1992 when he was cast in the Broadway production of “A Streetcar Named Desire”, where starring were involved such stars as Alec Baldwin and Jessica Lange. In the same year he first appeared on the big screen in the film “Stranger in our midst,” directed by Sidney Lamet. Having played several small roles (including the movie “True Love” Tony Scott the script by Quentin Tarantino), Gandolfini began to get more serious invitation: among his most famous works such films as “Angie” (1994), “The speed of the fall” (1994 ), “Crimson Tide” (1995), “Get Shorty” (1995), “Night Falls on Manhattan” (1997), “Perdita Durango” (1997). After sporadic participation in the “civil action” and “Fallen” (1998) James Gandolfini played a mafia clan head in his glorified television series “The Sopranos” (1999); For this role, Gandolfini has been awarded several television awards “Emmy” award and the “Golden Globe”.
