Ford Mustang Giugiaro Concept

Create a beautiful car is not easy. But the task is to make it based on the cult of the machine – even more difficult. But immediately clear who really knows how to skillfully “writing on given topics” without departing from reality.

A good example was the concept car based on the Ford Mustang, was developed in the studio ItalDesign. Author of the project – Fabrizio Giugiaro, the son of the founder of the studio Giorgetto Giugiaro. “As soon as my father and I saw the new Mustang, we wanted to make my own version,” – says the designer. Then, in 2005, the younger Giugiaro discussed the idea with Jay Mays, vice president of Ford Motor Co, after which the work started. And at the end of 2006 the project saw the Italians Visitors LA Auto Show.

Outside view of the concept is made in the same nostalgic spirit that distinguishes series coupe. Grille with reverse tilt, frowning sternly lights along the edges of the bulkhead, family contour of the rear rack … It is noticeable that the artist took a sample of the cult of the first generation Mustang. The result was, perhaps, more harmonious, and produced spectacular coupe now the fifth generation. Judge for yourself: rather dull facial expressions appeared arrogant smirk with deep-set eyes, headlights, horizontal windows line was replaced by a dynamic wave behind the doors. When this concept is quite running: it is based on the chassis of a racing Mustang FR500C. The motor is made of series 4.6-liter 24-valve V-shaped “eight”. It added a polished compressor Roots from the catalog Ford Racing Parts – not only for the sake of increasing the power up to 500 hp, but also for the sake of external showiness.

Italian-American “design study” completely eclipsed all other exhibits LA Auto Show and caused the assumption that this is what will look like the 2010 model year Mustang.
