American actress, poet, playwright, screenwriter, journalist and public figure.
 
Ruby Dee was born on October 27, 1924, the first year in Cleveland, Ohio – in the family of Gladys and Edward. Parents do not have nothing to do with art, but never let his daughter in her desire to become an actress.
Unfortunately, the mother of Ruby at the time his father left the family and the future actress had for some time to raise a daughter alone. After some time, the parent remarried – to a teacher Emma Amelia Benson, which replaced the Ruby’s mother.
