In the 70s the actor Louis Gosset begin more actively invite and cinema – he played enough for a decade, a huge number of roles, working with such directors as John Burma, Hal Ashby, Paul Bogart and Gordon Douglas, Stuart Rosenberg, and many others. Soon Gosset became absolutely versatile actor – his role simply did not have boundaries and roles have ranged from complete scoundrels up quite positive characters. Gradually Gosset moved to his, though not quite the official title – the title of one of the leading actors of black America.


Louis Gossett Jr. (Louis Cameron Gossett, Jr.) was born in 1936 in New York, the son of a maid and a porter. It is not known whether the future actor had dreamed about the scene, but the talent of sixteen Luis noticed during his role in the school play, and a year later he had already received his first major theater award – ‘Donaldson Award’ (Donaldson Award) as “the best newcomer of the year ‘for the role in the Broadway production of ‘a big step’ (Take a Giant Step). In 1980, Gosset starred in ‘non-US’ comedy Nicholas Zhessnera ‘The day I left, the night was rain’ (It Rained All Night the Day I Left). Two years later, in 1982, he got, though not a major, but one of his most famous roles – the character of cruel instructor Foley melodrama Taylor Hackford “Officer and a Gentleman ‘(An Officer and a Gentleman). In the film, spoke about the school of marine pilots, played by Richard Gere and Debra Winger, but it Gosset received for his role Oscar as a performer ‘best male supporting actor’. From the recent notable works actor – romance Tyler Perry ‘Father’s Daughter’ (Daddy’s Little Girls) in 2007, as well as family picture Frank E. Johnson ‘Shannon Rainbow’ (Shannon’s Rainbow).
It is known that the actor Louis Gossett was married at least twice, both marriages ended in divorce.
