The man who sang freedom
In May 2010, did not become an American actor and director Dennis Hopper. He was called ‘lost Hollywood junkie’, ‘rebel’ and ‘outcast’. For many, it was ‘uncomfortable’ and ‘nervous’ actor, but no one doubted his multifaceted talent. As a director, Hopper became a cult persona and idol of a generation.

The first works
Dennis Hopper was born on May 17, 1936. His professional acting career began as a teenager. He first appeared on screen in the television series ‘Doctor’, and in 1953 starred in the feature film ‘Johnny Guitar’.
It should be said that Hopper’s career in Hollywood was winding and full of oddities. He was a rebel in the cinema and persona non grata in the film industry. Dennis shared the ideas of the French New Wave, therefore demanded that the scene with his participation were taken a few dozen times. Directors had to work hard with Hopper, but his charisma and talent attracted the audience.
Dennis himself has not been able to determine in which direction it to work. He starred in the movie, was engaged in directing and photography and even wrote poems. The turning point for Hopper began shooting pictures ‘From Hell to Texas’ (1958). The film crew was so unhappy with the actor that he demanded the immediate dismissal. Dennis wanted to achieve excellence in acting, therefore, required to reshoot some scenes a hundred times! Cult fame

At the festival in Cannes Dennis Hopper received the award for Best Director, and the film was nominated for the ‘Palme d’Or’. He triumphantly held at international film festivals, winning numerous awards and nominations. ‘Easy Rider’ became a cult picture and had a tremendous impact on the US independent cinema.

Film raised a revolt due to the fact that the American Film Academy has ignored such important work of the actor and even called the decision “the greatest blunder in the history of cinema.”
Recent years
Return to the film industry presupposes and shooting new movies. So at least thought to myself Dennis Hopper. In 1988 he published his picture ‘Colors’, in which the main role performed Sean Penn. She did not have much success and was greeted by critics cool. The same fate awaited the next directorial work – ‘Renegade’ (1989), ‘hot spot’ (1990) and ‘guards’ (1994). As an actor, Hopper was not averse to star in blockbusters such as ‘Water World’ (1995) and ‘speed’ (1994).

Prostate cancer was diagnosed in a director in 2009. After a while, it was reported that the disease has metastasized, and nothing can be done. May 29, 2010 Dennis Hopper died at his home in Venice, a suburb of Los Angeles. In the eyes of the film community, he was a rebel and destroyer of the system, but still one of the best actors of his time. His ‘Easy Rider’ was the symbol of the era turning 60, the main principles of life which were sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
