Premiere of the car took place in September 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. New car continues the line of supercars, which started in 1955 and is a fusion of the latest achievements of automotive technology. Technical filling new supercar Mercedes SLR-Klasse McLaren – it forced the 5.3-liter turbo V8, developed with the participation of experts of the company AMG, whose power is 626 hp and maximum torque of 780nm is achieved at 3250 rpm. He remained at this level until promotion to 5000 rpm. From 0 to 100 km / h the car accelerates in 3.9 seconds, and up to 200 km / h in 10.6 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 334 km / h. Fitted as standard five-speed automatic transmission is also designed for maximum power output. It offers three control programs with different characteristics shift. In the “Manuell” (manual) five measuring ranges gear ratio selected using the shift paddles or the selector lever. In addition, in this program, the driver can select one of three modes – «Sport», «Supersport» and «Race» – and significantly reduce the time shift, if he prefers sporty driving style. In the rear of the SLR-Klasse McLaren additional downforce forms a retractable spoiler. since the speed of 95 km / h, it automatically takes the position with an inclination of 10 degrees, and thus increases the downforce on the rear bridge. in addition, a spoiler acts as an additional brake air: during heavy braking it tilts 65 degrees, not only provides increased aerodynamic resistance and aerodynamic center of gravity shifts backward. this means that when a high speed vehicle exhibits excellent stability.
