Ray Milland – March 10, 1986) – American actor and director, winner of the “Oscar” for Best Actor in 1945.
Ray Milland, born Reginald Alfred John Tryuskott-Jones, born January 3, 1905 in the town of Neath in Wales in the family, Alfred Jones and Elizabeth Annie. Before starting her acting career, he served four years in the horse cavalry, and then moved to London, where he made his debut on the stage. There he saw a Hollywood talent scout, Ray Milland and then moved to the United States and signed a contract with Paramount Pictures.
After the outbreak of World War II, Ray Milland tried to join the ranks of volunteers USAF, but was not accepted because of an injury of his left hand. Yet in 1944 he was enlisted in the army, but as aviainstruktora to military bases in the Pacific.
In 1939 Milland starred in “The Imperial Hotel”, where there was a scene riding a horse. The peak of his career was in 1945 when he was awarded the “Oscar” for Best Actor in the film “Lost Weekend.” His speech at the Academy Awards ceremony was the shortest in the history of Ray Milland simply bowed and disappeared from the scene. The same role brought him the prize “Golden Globe” and the “Prize of the Cannes Film Festival.”
