American actor and producer. At the age of 19 years, organized together with childhood friend Nick Krevet troupe of traveling acrobats. In 1939 the company broke up; Lancaster called to the front, he is first in North Africa and then in Italy and Austria, and everywhere speaks to soldiers with acrobatic numbers. Being invited to the cinema after the war, succeeds in his first role naive killer (“Killer» (The Killers) R. Sodmak, 1946) and establishes him as a convict in the film J. Dassin “brute force» (Brute Force, 1947 ).

Visconti), “Twentieth Century» (Novecento, 1976 B. Bertolucci) “Buffalo Bill and the Indians» (Buffalo Bill and the Indians, Or Sitting Bull’sHistory Lesson, 1976 Robert Altman). Among other European directors who have filmed Lancaster – Louis Malle and Liliana Cavani – respectively, “Atlantic City» (Atlantic City, 1980); «Skin» (La pelle, 1981).
