Anthony Hopkins
Born December 31, 1937 in Port Talbot, County Wales, UK.

In 1963 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began working in the theater.
In 1967-1970 he was a member of the troupe of the British National Theatre, then moved to the US and became a star in a movie.

The boy’s father, a baker, sent him to an expensive private school, where Tony was feeling a little lonely in protest poorly studied. The only thing that he, by his own admission, was engaged – is playing the piano and teasing teachers. After school, his parents sent her son to college of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where his abilities were given out. A favorite of fellow practitioners, magician and clown, he continued his acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (1961-1963). Then – the provincial scene and in 1968 – debut in the movie. Hopkins starred in “The Lion in Winter,” directed by Anthony Harvey Prince Richard, the future King Lionheart.

In the seventies, the actor played mainly supporting roles, played quite professionally, but without special revelation. Mainly in war movies and detective stories. The main thing for him at this time occurred in the theater and on television. There’s this squat with burly prostetski face gradually gaining experience and awards. So in 1973 he was named “actor of the year” for her performance as Pierre Bezukhov in the television series “War and Peace”, and in 1975 received the prize of the New York critics as Best Actor for his role as psychiatrist Dysert confronted with a strange case of vandalism A. Schaeffer’s play “Equus.” Gradually formed an artistic image of Hopkins – man leisurely, thorough, even more sluggish. Several years ago, Hopkins, who suffered from alcoholism, but thanks to the help heal society “Alcoholics Anonymous” has returned from Los Angeles to England, where he lives with his second wife, devoting his spare time to his hobby – playing the piano.

In 1987, Hopkins received from Queen Elizabeth knighted. Thus were evaluated his many achievements in the arts and promoting the UK around the world.
