Scheider, made his film debut in 1964 in “The Curse of the living dead,” was the first prominent role in 1971 in Alan Pakula in the thriller “Klute” and has his next role – a detective William Friedkin’s “The French Connection” – earned him a nomination for the “Oscar” for Best Supporting Actor. Following his nomination for the Academy Award it was in 1979: for the role in the movie “All That Jazz” by Bob Fosse.
