Moscow – a city of federal significance, the subject of the Russian Federation. The country’s largest and one of the world’s most important political, industrial, scientific and cultural center. It located in the European part of the Russian Federation, between the rivers Oka and Volga, the river Moscow. The border city mainly passes on the Moscow ring road.
Moscow area of about 1,000 km2. 10 million inhabitants (according to 2002 census). In Moscow transport junction consists of 11 railways, three river ports, 4 airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Bykovo. The number of subway stations reached 161, and the track is longer than 220 km.
Around Moscow there was the largest in the Russian Federation conurbation.
