American actor, winner of the Oscar ‘(Oscar Award). High charming, handsome (growth Dean 188 cm), he never became a movie star, but it was successful and in-demand character actor, starring in 132 roles in film and television, and his career was ended shortly before his death. It is interesting that in ordinary life Jagger had a small defect pronunciation – he lisped. Front of the camera this defect disappeared instantly.

Ira Dean Jagger was born on November 7, 1903 in the town of Kalambus Grove, Ohio (Columbus Grove, Ohio). He was twice expelled from school before Dean finally managed to finish it and go to the private men’s College Wabash College in Indiana (Indiana). Jagger initially worked as a teacher in junior high, but soon became interested in the actor’s craft, and in 1928 enrolled in the Chicago theater school Lyceum Art Conservatory. He used his skills in speaking variety show and radio shows.
In 1929 he made his cinematic debut – Jagger played the first and only silent film ‘The Woman from Hell’ (The Woman from Hell) Mary Astor (Mary Astor) in the title role. After a couple of movies, detective ‘handcuffed’ (Handcuffed, 1929) and the musical comedy ‘Whoopee!’ (Whoopee !, 1930), followed by a break, but in 1934 the actor returned to the set. Before 1938, Jagger was doing 5-6 films a year, apparently, under the terms of the contract, and at the same time managed to perform on Broadway (Broadway). Dean first appeared on the Broadway stage in December 1933, in the drama ‘Tobacco Road’ (Tobacco Road), and for 15 years has played in eight productions. However, with the exception of ‘Tobacco Road’, which has withstood the 3182 submission for seven and a half years, they quickly left the stage.
In 1940, Dean received the coveted title role, playing Brigham Young (Brigham Young), American religious leader, Mormon, in the drama. According to the film’s technical advisor George D. Dean played a notable role in the film ‘Western Union’ (Western Union, 1941), ‘Sister Kenny’ (Sister Kenny, 1946) and ‘Haunted (Pursued, 1947). The culmination of his career was in 1949, the cherished golden statuette in the category ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role in the war drama ‘twelve hours up’ (Twelve O’Clock High). The main role in the film played by Gregory Peck (Gregory Peck), who also received the Oscar. Another famous role Jagger – a retired general in the musical melodrama ‘Merry Christmas’ (White Christmas, 1954), which come to the aid of his former soldiers by Bing Crosby (Bing Crosby) and Danny Kaye (Danny Kaye). Since the beginning of the 60s Jagger increasingly worked in television, including the series’ Mr. Novak ‘(Mr. Novak), which earned him two nominations in 1964 and 1965 on the television Emmy’ (Emmy Award). For appearing as a guest star in the Christian religious series ‘That’s life’ (This Is the Life) actor received ‘The daily Emmy’ (Daytime Emmy). His work in television series tens, but his last role Jagger played in movies, appearing in 1987 as Dr. Schaeffer (Doctor Schaeffer) in the horror film ‘City of Evil’ (Evil Town).
The actor was married three times: from 1935 to 1943 – by Antoinette Lawrence (Antoinette Lawrence), from 1947 to 1967 – at the Gloria Ling (Gloria Ling), who bore him a daughter, and from 1968 to 1991 – at the Etta Mae Norton (Etta Mae Norton), survived him by less than a year.
